When my brother bought a hamster in 2001, she was pregnant.
On Christmas day (or thereabouts) she gave birth to Willow and her siblings. As
you can see from the picture, Willow had rather striking red eyes.
(Unfortunately this meant that once I got a digital camera it was tough to get a
good picture as they tend to glow due to the flash....)
So why "Willow?" She was named after Willow Rosenberg, from
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Quite a fitting name really, like her namesake,
Willow was an intelligent redhead who turned to the Dark Side when angered (ie.
woken up for anything other than food!)
Another Willow who could
give the Evil Eye...
Willow was a beautiful little hamster, but sadly she came
down with a nasty hamster disease called wet tail. I'd never come across it
before (although I had heard of it) so I didn't recognise the symptoms until it
was too late, even the Baytril the vet gave her couldn't save her, and she
passed away on 16th September 2003. Sorry Willow, I failed you. You
are deeply missed.

camera and didn't resize well, so it was a choice between big pictures or tiny
