Project Sesshoumaru (aka. Project Okashira 2) is named after Inuyasha's half-brother in the anime series Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru saved Rin's life after she was attacked by Kouga's wolves, and she joined him on his journeys because....well, because she wanted to :P Anyway, there's the Rin-Sesshoumaru connection....

Project Sesshoumaru had the same aims as Project Okashira. The only differences were that I was using a Syrian hamster (Rin) instead of a Roborovski hamster (Misao), and I was trying to take daily measurements. When I began Okashira Misao wasn't normally getting up until it was dark (ie. when I had switched out the lights), making it hard to get readings; the readings I managed to get were on nights when she just happened to get up early! Rin, however, tends to be up before 21:00 so I hoped to get some sort of reading during the night. Only problem is, if she realised I'm watching her she wanted to come out! I abandoned the project after a few weeks because the readings just weren't reliable enough :(
